Hotel Splendid
What convinced us is the hotel's unmistakable silhouette: a white Belle Époque facade raised in...
Hotel Le Cavendish occupies a stone townhouse on boulevard Carnot, built in 1897 with the wrought-iron balconies and carved columns typical of Cannes's Belle Époque years. The hotel takes its name from the Cavendish family, the British aristocratic line once linked to the house, one of several aristocratic residences that lined this part of Cannes when the English colony first discovered the Riviera winter. Inside, the decor keeps that era's references alive without turning the place into a museum: a lobby arranged like a private study, bookshelves, an iron chandelier, marble stairs and a tiny 1920s lift that still runs, if not for wheelchairs.
We loved Le Cavendish for the circular Rotunda rooms, renovated in 2015, whose curved walls and wraparound windows are unlike anything else on boulevard Carnot, and for small rituals a bigger hotel would skip: a free afternoon tea, a complimentary evening cocktail hour, and access to a private beach during the summer months. There is no restaurant, no gym and no business centre, a deliberate choice that keeps the hotel feeling like a townhouse rather than a full-service property, and the thirty-four rooms, each decorated a little differently in soft tones and florals, reward guests who ask for one with a terrace.
Boulevard Carnot sits a few streets back from the seafront, about six minutes' walk from La Croisette, five minutes from the shops off rue d'Antibes, and roughly ten minutes from the beach itself. Cannes's train station is a five-minute walk, useful for day trips along the coast, and the Palais des Festivals is about seven minutes on foot, close enough for festival-week guests without the surcharge of a beachfront address. Cannes-Mandelieu airport is a thirteen-minute drive and Nice airport about thirty minutes, both manageable without a transfer booked in advance.

Our Favorite Thing About the Hotel: The circular Rotunda rooms with wraparound views
Dining: No restaurant; free afternoon tea and evening cocktail hour, breakfast for a fee
Amenities: Private beach access in high season, valet and private parking, 1920s lift (not wheelchair accessible)
Attractions: La Croisette (about 6 min walk), rue d'Antibes shops (5 min), Palais des Festivals (7 min), Cannes station (5 min)
The lobby sets the tone: bookshelves, an iron chandelier, antique-style seating and a low wooden front desk staffed by a single attendant rather than a bank of receptionists. The breakfast room doubles as a lounge bar in the evening, dressed in red drapes and iron candleholders alongside modern black booths, a combination that reads more like a private members' room than a hotel breakfast hall. Upstairs, the Deluxe and Rotunda categories were renovated in 2015; the Rotunda rooms are genuinely circular, a rare shape in a Cannes hotel, with views that wrap further round than a standard rectangular room allows. Older rooms keep original antique furniture, soft tones and floral prints, with velour fabrics throughout.
Two practical points worth flagging. The 1920s elevator is original and charming, but it is small and not wheelchair accessible, so guests with mobility needs or heavy luggage should request a lower floor. And because there is no on-site restaurant, dinner means stepping out, an easy trade given the five-minute walk to rue d'Antibes, though it is worth knowing before booking if an evening meal on site matters. Breakfast is served buffet-style for a fee and is not included in every rate, so it is worth checking at the time of booking rather than assuming.

Our pick here comes down to a sixth-floor rooftop that Cannes rarely does this well:...
We chose this address because of what a Prestige suite delivers here: a sea view,...
